Symptoms of trauma
that EMDR and parts work can help with

Trauma can manifest in various ways, but some common symptoms include:

  1. Emotional Distress: This may include feelings of shock, denial, disbelief, anger, guilt, shame, or sadness. Individuals may also experience mood swings or emotional numbness.

  2. Intrusive Thoughts or Memories: Traumatic events can lead to recurrent, distressing thoughts, nightmares, or flashbacks about the event, even when the person tries to avoid them.

  3. Avoidance Behaviors: People might try to avoid situations, places, or people that remind them of the traumatic event. This can sometimes lead to social withdrawal or isolation.

  4. Hyperarousal: Individuals may feel constantly on edge, irritable, or have difficulty concentrating. They may also experience hypervigilance, exaggerated startle responses, or difficulty sleeping.

  5. Physical Symptoms: Trauma can manifest physically, leading to headaches, gastrointestinal issues, muscle tension, or other somatic complaints.

  6. Changes in Beliefs or Perspectives: Trauma can alter one's beliefs about themselves, others, or the world. This may result in feelings of mistrust, a sense of vulnerability, or a loss of previously held beliefs.

  7. Difficulty with Relationships: Trauma can impact interpersonal relationships, leading to difficulties in trusting others, forming or maintaining close relationships, or expressing emotions.

It's important to note that these symptoms can vary widely from person to person and may not always be immediately apparent. Additionally, experiencing these symptoms doesn't necessarily mean someone has PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) but could indicate the presence of trauma that needs to be addressed and processed.

How we can resolve trauma together

Trauma is a deeply personal experience that can leave lasting scars on the mind, body, and spirit. As a therapist specializing in trauma recovery, I understand the complex nature of healing and the importance of utilizing a multifaceted approach to support my clients on their journey towards wholeness. With years of specialized training and experience, I've helped hundreds of individuals reclaim their lives from the grip of trauma.

In my practice, I integrate somatics, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and parts work to provide a comprehensive framework for healing trauma. I also utilize a modality called Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy to precede EMDR, which is a type of therapy that stabilizes dissociative 'parts'. What this means is that all parts of your will be supported and resourced to revisit painful material while feeling grounded and secure.

By addressing the interconnected aspects of trauma through the mind, body, emotions, and beliefs, we can create a path towards resilience and restoration.

What to expect in trauma therapy

We will begin by getting your history at the pace that works for you. There should never be any unmanageable emotional flooding in your trauma therapy, because we work together by titrating the journey based on how your nervous system responds step-by-step.

In our confidential and non-judgmental sessions, you'll have the opportunity to explore your experiences, process difficult emotions, and develop coping strategies for managing triggers and symptoms. Together, we'll create a space where you can reclaim your voice, rewrite your narrative, and embrace a future free from the shadows of the past. Every step of the way, you'll be met with empathy, validation, and unwavering support as you navigate your path to healing and wholeness.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about trauma therapy sessions, please don't hesitate to reach out. I am here to support you on your healing journey, and I look forward to walking alongside you toward reclamation of the real you.
